Photographer of the week (10)

Liora K
My next few posts will feature feminist photographers as it is a cause dear to my heart and very prevalent in our society. I feel it is super important to support these women who are being advocates through their artwork.

My first photographer I wanted to feature is Liora. Liora is a feminist because she "can’t live in a world where she is defined, limited, and categorized by genitalia, where women are objectified beyond reason, where rape culture thrives, and where these injustices (and more) are so blatantly ignored and denied by so many people." She states this about her project, ' I wanted to create a body of share-able and instantly understandable work that people could connect with and use to continue to spread the word: “women’s rights are being sabotaged, but we are fighting back.”' She goes on to explain how she had always wanted to take a stand, make a change, and speak out but that she is not good with words. She used art as her means of communicating. "The Feminist Photos" project has been featured on Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, Upworthy, Marieclaire.it, D-La Republicca, The Feminist Wire, dot429, Unite Women, and MotleyNews.net and well as being translated and featured in 36 other countries around the world.
