Larry Clark has a reputation of being one of the most controversial photographer and filmmakers of our day. But Larry says he doesn't do this on purpose. He states, "I don’t try to be controversial, I just try to be honest and tell the truth about life. Coming from the art world, I never think there are things you can’t do or show." I think its really important to show the real parts of life, the embarrassing moments, the sad, intimate, dirty, horrifying, shameful moments that make up who we are. Photography isn't about being pretty, although you can take something "ugly" and make it so. That isn't always the point, and Larry makes it clear that he is just trying to tell the raw, real, truth about his life.
